Guide Review - Game Review: 'Dig Dug Remix'

Dig Dug Remix has the classic arcade hit as well as the later, remixed version out on the consoles, and luckily manages to capture the flavor with the original game. In Dig Dug Remix, you must spelunk underground and use your air pump to burst all the subterranean monsters before they reach the surface. Like a neo-Pac-Man, you can collect random items for bonus points and use rocks (and gravity) to kill off enemies. The funky spacesuit, Jurassic enemies and neurotic music makes the whole game, well, strange, but in a very ‘80s arcade way. It’s addictive and quirky. While the original mode looks exactly the same as the arcade game, the remixed mode adds in lush graphics, larger characters and added levels. Unfortunately, it also adds in overcomplicated items and sluggish controls. The controls in either version of the game aren’t super sharp – at least on the touchscreen phones – but the new mode just seemed like a waste of time. Expect a solid version of the original classic and you’ll be happy with Dig Dug Remix
