Guide Review - Strategy Game 'Tiny Wings' for the Apple iPhone and iPod
Here's a warning before you consider downloading this game: Tiny Wings is ridiculously addictive. In fact, I currently have the theme song stuck in my head from hours of play. This low-cost game goes like this: The hero, the bird, has wings too tiny to fly, so it must run up small hills and get enough momentum to temporarily catch air. The only thing you control here are the tiny wings, which, with a tap on the screen, will pull in and make the bird fall towards the ground -- hopefully into another valley where the bird can gain even more momentum and fly further and higher. The twist is that the bird can only fly during the day, so the game is a race against the setting sun: The further you fly, the more distance gained away from the sun. Tiny Wings has nice watercolor graphics and cute sounds, and it initially feels like one of those "play for 30 seconds" games, but then you start to get better at coasting, and then you realize that there is more than one area to conquer, and, finally, that there are actual experience points that unlock more bonuses and better distance. By that point, you probably will realize that hours have passed, and that Tiny Wings belongs with Tetris,Drop 7, and Peggle among the most addictive mobile games you can get today. Download it already.
