Guide Review - Review of Old-School Arcade Game 'Golden Axe' for the iPhone, iPod
is one of those classic beat-'em ups that hasn't aged well. In a Conan The Barbarian-like scenario, three warriors have to stop Death Adder and his heavy army. It's old school fighting with swords and axes, as well as potions which, when collected, can do severe damage to all onscreen enemies. The problem is that the repetitive action is left literally unchanged from two decades ago, and, like Space Harrier
, the game gets boring by the end of level one. No bonus areas, improved graphics, and no difficulty level options. Sega added Bluetooth multiplayer via an update, but it still doesn't prevent this straight outta 1987 game from being a dud.
