Guide Review - Dragon’s Lair Game Review
Believe it or not, Dragon’s Lair captures all the beauty, the charm and the frustration of the groundbreaking old-school game. Using cutting edge technology, 1983’s Dragon’s Lair stars a knight, Dirk, who must rescue a princess, Daphne, from a giant dragon. The adventure is in an evil castle filled with malicious wizards, reanimated skeletons and dozens of tricky hazards. It’s best described as an interactive cartoon: Press the right direction or button at the right time to see the next sequence. Mess up the timing, however, and you’ll be seeing a death sequence. In fact, the mobile Dragon’s Lair is just as merciless as the arcade classic – be prepared to see Dirk die. A lot. The game comes down to memorization, a la Simon. Luckily, the visuals and audio are just as gorgeous and as polished as the original, which will be enough to entertain for a little while. Dragon’s Lair offers classic mode, with all its difficulty, and a more mild mobile mode. Either way, you can select limited lives and other options. High difficulty aside, Dragon’s Lair doesn’t offer a lot of variety – in fact, some sequences repeat three times before the end of the meaty game – making it best for short burst or, perhaps, a quick run down memory lane. Dragon’s Lair is worth the time for gamers who remember the classic, just to have it on their mobiles.
