Home games can be physically taken care of by protecting the cartridge or CD and keeping the game system clean. But mobile games are different because they are stored directly on your phone. Fortunately, there are many ways to protect your purchase.
Do Not Use the Phone When the Game Is Downloading
Accidentally hitting the wrong button can disrupt the download – and you could be charged for a game that hasn’t been fully received. Besides, downloads usually last no more than a few minutes.
Find Out if You Can Back Up Purchases
For instance, the iPhone/iPod Touch can save downloaded games on your computer. Look in your owner’s manual or on the manufacturer’s website for more information.
Try to Download the Game Again from the Network
Publishers sometimes keep track of what you purchased and will let you download it again for free – usually during a set period of time after purchase, say, for a week.
Contact the Game Company
Sometimes the game will be unrecoverable and you’ll need some assistance from the publisher itself. I have emailed the help desk of many mobile game companies and gotten support, another game or even a reimbursed purchase.
